Making Plans

Expressions to talk about plans for tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and next week in French.

daysschedule

💡Key Phrases and Explanations

Tu es libre demain ?

Are you free tomorrow? Use "libre" to ask if someone is available. Different from "gratuit" which means "free of charge".

Après-demain

The day after tomorrow. Essential word to avoid circumlocutions like "dans deux jours."

On peut aller au cinéma.

We can go to the cinema. "On" is very common in spoken French, often replacing "nous."

Le week-end prochain

Next weekend. Be careful not to confuse with "dernier" (last weekend).

Je n’ai rien.

I have nothing. Often used when you have no plans. Colloquial equivalents include "Rien de prévu."

La semaine prochaine

Next week. "Prochaine" agrees with "semaine," which is feminine.

J’ai un rendez-vous.

I have an appointment. Context matters: can be a doctor’s appointment, work meeting, or even a date.

On se voit plusieurs fois.

We’ll see each other several times. A friendly way to conclude future planning.
