素人にもわかる言葉で言うと
。専門外の人にも伝わるように簡単な言葉で説明するという意味です。laymenは素人の意。

言い換える
「別の言い方にする」。難しすぎる表現をより簡潔にする時に使います。
give people the 'why' before the 'how'
どうやってより先に、なぜそれが重要かを伝える
。背景や意義を先に説明することで理解しやすくなります。これは英語表現というよりプレゼンとして大事です。
highlight the key points
重要なポイントを強調する
。情報を絞って、伝えたい核心をはっきりさせる時に使います。highlightは論文でもよく使いますね。
